LaHood to Step Down- Ray LaHood has stated that even if President Obama is re-elected in 2012 he will step down as the transportation secretary. This should be a welcome sign for all drivers out there! Although.... what type of person will be appointed next? That will be up to the next President of the United States that we vote in!
CSA program showing improvements over SafeStat- The University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute noted that the crash rate was 3 times higher for carriers that were identified with safety problems through CSA, than the crash rate for carriers not identified with any safety problems by the SafeStat. In short, the old SafeStat method was not proactive enough to slow the crash rate. The new CSA regulations allow federal and state regulators to intervene earlier with companies that have safety issues, before they become a "crash rate" statistic.
Texas Raises Some Speed Limits to 75- A new Texas law has elimitated different speed limits between trucks and cars. They have also limited the slower nighttime speed limits. The state hasn't taken down all the old speed limit signs but are currently working to complete that task.
